Goodbye to Powell - Store Closing
Posted on February 21 2014
It is with a heavy heart that we are closing the Powell store on Monday February 24. Our store has been open for three years in Powell and we are sad to be leaving the community.
Our staff gets asked all the time if The Candle Lab is a franchise and if there are other stores around the country. The answer is that we are locally owned with only four stores in Columbus and the company is owned by my wife Katesha and me. As parents and local business owners, there are only so many hours in the day. Two beautiful little girls and a long list of ambitious changes on the horizon for the company means that we have make some tough choices about things to remove from our plate.
This promises to be a very exciting year for the company, including launching wine service in our three remaining stores and a mobile store in a trailer that we can tow to arts festivals, craft shows and even your home or wedding to pour candles. This is going to open up many new opportunities for us and take our custom candle experience to a bigger audience. Once our trailer is rolling, we intend to bring it to Powell to allow our loyal customers a chance to pour their candles. We are also hoping our at-home parties with the mobile store will let us deliver our candle pouring experience to our Powell fans in a new way.
The store will be open normal business hours this week – 11am to 8pm today through Saturday and noon to 4pm on Sunday. When we close on Sunday, we will not be reopening again. If you have a party scheduled in the Powell store, someone will be calling you today to rebook your party in our Worthington store. If you have candles that you need to pick up and can’t make it this weekend, our neighbors at Jeni’s Ice Cream next door have agreed to hold our remaining candles for pick up at your convenience.
Rest assured that our other three stores won’t be closing and our business is stronger than it’s ever been. We have had to make some tough choices this year to continue with the growth plan we put in motion. It’s always a painful process to close a store that you have worked so hard to build, but we’re excited to show you what we have planned for the company in the future.
You can email me at email@example.com or call our Powell store at 614-338-9223 with any questions, concerns or feedback. Thanks to everyone who has supported us in Powell over the past three years and we hope to see you soon up there with our mobile store.
