For the fourth year in a row, The Candle Lab is honored to partner with the experts at the BIA Parade of Homes!

When most people think of interior design, they think of the usual suspects:  their favorite HGTV show, the kitchen renovation of their dreams (double ovens, anyone?), or a luxurious sectional to put their feet up after a long day.  And while all of these are important aspects of design, there is one element that often gets overlooked: the way a space smells.

Fortunately, the experts at Arthur Rutenberg Homes understand how scent can be a powerful interior design tool.  When paired with the visual components of a room, it can enhance the mood and bring together a space. We collaborated with the team to design a custom fragrance for each of the rooms in their model home.  When touring this gorgeous home, you’ll see how the smell of each room complements and elevates the space.

The good news is, if you love the way a particular room smells, you can recreate that custom scent to incorporate it in your own home!  The Arthur Rutenberg model home has a postcard available that lists the fragrances blended in each room (also listed below). Simply bring that postcard to your favorite store to receive $5 off your purchase.  You can recreate the scents you fell in love with, or perhaps you’ll be inspired to create a new custom scent to enhance your unique home!

Be sure to check out the Arthur Rutenberg home at the BIA Parade of Homes at Evans Farm July 13-28.  Tickets are just $16-$18 and can be purchased here

2019 BIA Parade of Homes - Custom Fragrances

Entry - Absinthe | Juniper | Elderflower
Clean, bright, and white, we wanted to create a sophisticated and unique scent to fit this contemporary space. A blend of Absinthe, Juniper and Elderflower welcomes you as you step foot into the home.

Master Closet & Laundry Area - Lettuce | Mint Leaf | Clothesline
With a master closet this spacious and an adjoining laundry room, you might find yourself looking forward to laundry day! The crisp, bright, and green combination of Lettuce and Mint Leaf with a dash of clean Clothesline will make you feel both serene and motivated.

Living, Dining & Kitchen - Magnolia | Earl Grey Tea | Bergamot
Inspired by the contemporary farmhouse theme of the space, we wanted to create a scent that was clean and bright, yet warm. Bergamot and Magnolia add a bright floral punch, while warm and cozy Earl Grey Tea rounds out this scent and makes you want to sit and stay a while!

Basement - Tupelo Honey | Vanilla Bean | Bourbon | Leather
A bottle of local OYO Honey Vanilla Whiskey at the wet bar inspired us to blend Bourbon, Tupelo Honey, and Vanilla Bean, along with a hint of Leather. Anyone want to join us for a nightcap?

Girl’s Room - Yuzu | Grapefruit | Olive Blossom
We wanted to create a scent for this space that was bright, feminine, and empowering. The dusty rose color palette inspired us to anchor the blend with the soft, sophisticated smell of Olive Blossom, amped up by the sweet yet tart fragrances of Yuzu and Grapefruit.

Boys’ Room - Sea Breeze | Agarwood | Bonsai
There is no better scent than Sea Breeze to make us feel ‘swept away’ by this nautical themed room. We added the woodsy scent of Agarwood to capture the spirit of the boat that would carry us out to sea and a touch of Bonsai to round out our adventure - ahoy!
