Dollars and Scents Program - Raising Money with The Candle Lab
Thank you for your interest in The Candle Lab's "Dollars and Scents" Fundraising Program. We have a long history of helping groups raise money through candle sales and custom-labeled fundraiser candles, but we have added another option to help your group raise the money you need. We have been so grateful for the support the central Ohio community has shown us over the past 5+ years of being in business, and we're committed to supporting the groups that help to make this a great place to live and work.
Here are the details of what you need to you and what you can expect from us. Your group will get 20% of all our retail sales on the day you are assigned. It's your job to get all of your friends, family, stakeholders, volunteers and fans to come in that day to buy candles and gifts. We will help you promote the event, but the more effective you are at getting the word out, the more money you will make. Your group will receive a check from us for your donation within a week of your event and we will contact you when you can come pick it up in our store. You can also leave us a self-addressed stamped envelope and we will mail it to you.
To sign up, please email us with all of the information on the checklist provided at the end of this email. You need to pick a list of two or three dates that will work for you. We do this on Tuesdays and Wednesdays all year, excluding November and December. The event runs for the full day, and we're open from 11am until 8pm. You will also need to pick which store will be best for you - we have stores in Worthington and the Short North. If your group has a Tax ID number, please include that as well. We're booking the dates on a first come first serve basis, so we'll reply back within a couple days with which date is open and assigned to your group. We'll also include a photo and sample language you can use on Twitter, Facebook, and/or emails to spread the word.
You are encouraged to drop off materials at the store so that we can share your information with our customers so they know where their money is going. This can be a stack of pamphlets to pass out, or just a poster or display of your group or charity. This is optional, but it might encourage our customers to spend a little more to support your group. We do not allow groups to set up a table or have a person in the store during the day you are assigned, and we can't solicit anybody's contact information or sell anything other than our store merchandise for your group.
If your group is big enough to have supporters all over central Ohio, you can pick a different store each week to raise money. Your group can only do one time at each store per year, and we reserve the right to cancel future events if your first event doesn't have a strong turnout.

- The store that is most convenient for your group (Worthington or the Short North)
- The two or three dates that work for you
- A contact name, email, and phone number for your group
- A sentence or two description of your charity so we can promote it on Facebook & Twitter
- A Tax ID number if you have one.
